Morning: Vendel & Valsgärde We begin at the Vendel archaeological area. Here, you will enjoy a guided tour of the Vendel Period Museum and the medieval 13th-century church. Your guide will paint a picture of Vendel from the Stone Age to the Viking Era, detailing the wealthy boat graves and the ancient power center that once defined this region. The journey continues to the Valsgärde burial ground, one of Sweden’s most significant archaeological sites. The magnificent boat graves discovered here reveal the life ideals, international connections, and grandeur of the great chieftains of the time.

Lunch – Odinsborg (Old Uppsala):

Viking-Specific Stop: Includes a main course, table water, butter, bread, salad, and coffee. This stop offers the opportunity for a short outdoor guided walk among the three monumental Royal Mounds. You also have the opportunity to visit Old Uppsala Church, which served as the first archiepiscopal see in Sweden before the seat was moved to the current city center and the cathedral, marking the transition when the original settlement became known as “Old” Uppsala.

Afternoon: Gustavianum – A World-Class University Museum A guided tour focusing on the exhibition Before the Vikings. Here, you will see unique artifacts from Valsgärde: helmets, weapons, ornate bridles, and glass objects. The exhibition provides fresh insights into the transition between the Vendel Period (500 AD) and the Viking Period (1000 AD). Don’t miss the Augsburg Art Cabinet and the Anatomical Theatre built in the 1660s.

Experience history firsthand via VR or by trying on historical clothing. Afterward, we visit Disagården, an open-air museum offering a glimpse into rural Swedish life during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Lunch – Uppsala Historic Quarter: Lunch at your leisure among the charming alleys and historic buildings surrounding the Fyrisån river.

Afternoon: Uppsala Cathedral & The Runestones A guided tour of the largest church in the Nordic region—a Gothic masterpiece with towering spires and intricate stained glass. After our visit to the cathedral, we explore the runestones in Uppsala, led by an expert guide to decode the ancient messages carved into stone that still stand in the city today.

Dinner – Villa Anna:

Viking-Specific Stop: A celebration of “luxurious roots.” Enjoy a gourmet experience where seasonal, locally sourced ingredients from the forest, sea, and farm are served in an elegant Scandinavian setting.

The Viking World in Stockholm

Heading to the capital to experience the Viking Age with all five senses.

Morning: The Swedish History Museum Experience one of the world’s largest Viking exhibitions, The Viking World. See 2,500 original artifacts telling stories of daily life and terrifying rituals. Visit the underground Gold Room to marvel at exquisite silver and gold treasures.

Lunch – Restaurant Eld:

Viking-Specific Stop: Situated at The Viking Museum on Djurgården. The menu is inspired by Nordic cuisine with a focus on sustainability and seasonal ingredients.

Afternoon: The Viking Museum & Gamla Stan A guided tour of the museum including weapon examinations and mead-tasting. This is followed by a guided walking tour through the cobblestone streets of Gamla Stan (Old Town), where your guide will share tales of Viking legends and the city’s medieval heart.

Evening: Hotel Check-in (Stockholm) Check in at Hotel C Stockholm. Located in the absolute heart of the city, this modern hotel is home to the world-famous ICEBAR. Settle into your cozy room and prepare for the evening’s festivities.

Dinner – Aifur:

Viking-Specific Stop: Named after a legendary Viking ship. Indulge in food and culture from the years 700–1100 in an atmosphere created by 15 years of historical research.

Birka – Expedition to Sweden’s First City

Concluding where it all began, on an island in Lake Mälaren.

Morning: Boat Trip to Birka Departure by boat from central Stockholm. During the journey, a classic Swedish Fika (coffee and cinnamon bun) will be served on board.

Lunch & Guided Tour at Birka:

Viking-Specific Stop: Birka was the most important hub for trade during the Viking Age.

Lunch is served upon arrival, followed by a guided tour of the archaeological site and a visit to Hovgården on the island of Adelsö to meet a professional rune carver.

Evening: ICEBAR & Farewell

Viking-Specific Stop: A pre-dinner drink at ICEBAR Stockholm, where everything—including the glasses—is carved from ice from Northern Sweden. We conclude the journey with a relaxing dinner at the hotel.
